Welcome to Pete's Palace!
Share
Pete's Palace started in the summer of 2021 when I was playing double-A Professional Baseball for the Birmingham Barons in Alabama.
I wasn't getting paid as much as some might think playing professional sports in the minor leagues. I was grateful to have teammates that made an effort to continue our relationship off the field and allowed me to take up a small space in the living room of a 3 bedroom apartment.
I shared this apartment with 4 other teammates in which 2 of us lived in the living room. One day, I made a trip to Walmart and grabbed the cheapest bedding necessities to convert what was once an open space, to what I call "Pete's Palace."
I made a big kid fort for privacy and protection from the sun that would shine through the lightly shaded living room sliding door. It was EPIC! I slept comfortably there for a month and then I got called up to triple-A Charlotte Knights in North Carolina.
Once in Charlotte, I reconnected with a former opponent turned best friend and family. He was also once a teammate and roommate of mine during my 13 year professional baseball career. It has always been my mission to tell this story of how Pete's Palace came to life!
